Opportunities for Students
Workforce Development Opportunities
CCV is an important workforce development partner for BETA. We are collaborating to establish a Manufacturing Production Technician apprenticeship built on the Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification to support the workforce needed for the production of our electric aircraft. The CPT certification is a national standard for production certification and the most widely adopted production-level certification in the state. We are also excited to partner on the Career Path Entry Program- an exciting opportunity for Vermonters to explore exciting careers in manufacturing!
BETA has partnered with CV-TEC located in Plattsburgh, NY. Embedded in the Automotive and Collision Repair Program, BETA has developed an accelerated pathway for high school students to receive professional Aerospace Coatings Applicator Specialist (ACAS) certification. Students train alongside BETA’s Aerospace Paint Industry experts at the campus in Plattsburgh. Upon completing the program, these students will be qualified to conduct aerospace-grade painting activities on electric aircraft.
Burlington is lucky to have museums like ECHO, dedicated to inspiring and engaging families in the joy of scientific discovery. Some exhibits not to miss are Engineer It - a tinkering Bench with facilitated hands-on science activities and from now until May, check out ECHO’s Mission: Aerospace exhibit
BETA has worked closely with several local First Robotic Teams. Starting with ages 4-6 and spanning through High School, First Robotics offers incredible opportunities to develop important skills. Many current BETA Team members found their initial inspirations for STEM careers through participation in First!
Located at Franklin County State Airport (KFSO) HFA is supporting the next generation of aviation maintenance technicians and avionics specialists for conventional and electric aircraft through apprenticeship opportunities. Great opportunities for youth interested in learning more about aviation!
The mission is to raise the interest and improve the knowledge and skills of youth in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). With program sites in Rutland and South Burlington, we can work with over 25% of fifth graders in Vermont each year. BETA is excited to collaborate with Starbase to build some curriculum related to electric aviation and hopefully, inspire future aviators!
As a statewide nonprofit, its mission is to ensure that children and youth in every Vermont community have access to enriching programs during out-of-school hours. One of the key initiatives that BETA collaborates with regularly is Linking Engineering to Life (LEL). This program is aimed specifically at middle school girls and non-binary youth who have historically been underrepresented in STEM fields as part of the Million Girls Moonshot initiative.
VTSU is a critical workforce development partner for BETA on several fronts. Earlier this year, BETA and VTSU collaborated on the development and implementation of an experimental course, “Intro to Electric Aviation”. The curriculum of this course will continue to be an important tool supporting our local schools in infusing new technologies relevant to Electric Aviation. VTSU also offers programs aimed at developing critical skills in the future workforce of electric aviation.
Helping to support our future workforce in production with program like Trailblazers- VWW’s free seven-week training program in construction and renewable energy skills for women and gender-expansive individuals ages 18+. BETA is excited to partner with VWW this Spring to be one of the local employers hosting Trailblazer apprentices.
Working Fields is a nonprofit organization based in Vermont that focuses on workforce development and job placement for individuals facing barriers to employment. BETA is proud to partner with Working Fields as we look to grow our Team by hiring skilled people from a diverse talent pool.
