This position is responsible for forming and implementing a consistent and effective philosophy around human interaction with BETA products. This includes eVTOL, Simulation, and Charging infrastructure products in certification and industrialization development. Working within the Industrial Design Team, this position will consult on a broad array of BETA projects where physical and cognitive human factors come into play. The Sr. Human Factors Engineer will interface with customers, industrial designers, certification engineers, program managers, and suppliers – ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned. Exceptional visual and verbal communication skills will be employed while researching, testing, and forming BETA’s HF philosophy and ultimately creating BETAs HF guide documents and libraries. This position is part of a growing BETA Industrial Design team within the OEM, that serves the wider organization as an internal consulting agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Consult on projects involving the design of Aircraft, Charging Infrastructure, and Simulators
Design usability and operator efficiency into the cockpit, cabin, and exterior of aircraft
Develop and refine human touchpoints in the life cycle of an aircraft, crew, passengers, mechanics, etc.
2D model and visualize flows and logic around UI for aircraft and charging infrastructure (LUCIDchart preferred)
3D model and visualize physical solutions around fatigue, reach, and glare (RAMSIS preferred)
Communicate with excellent written, visual, and verbal skills, with both internal & external customers.
Maintain high energy, while being self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented
Form and catalog best practices Human Factors guides for BETA products
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
10+ years of Human Factors experience in a transportation-related field
Experience with aircraft flight controls, cockpit, interiors, and xgress for certification
Experience working on fully industrialized vehicle projects
Strong 3D cad and 2D skills in HF modeling & visualization
Experience with other forms of electric transportation and related infrastructure is a plus
Experience with Virtual Reality ergonomic and usability flow testing is a plus
