BETA is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to focus on introduction into product and optimization of it’s Battery Manufacturing line. A strong candidate will have experience in creating, validating and optimizing capable processes, from ideation through handoff to production. Your work will coordinate the integration and optimization of a capable manufacturing line for the Battery packs of BETA’s Alia aircraft. You will work with internal design and manufacturing teams to identify design for manufacturing and process improvement opportunities. Your responsibilities will continue through the implementation and validation of those improvements to ensure maximum gain and the overall performance of the Battery Manufacturing Line
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
Collaborate with product design to define key requirements to manufacture product
Communicate to the design team product feature improvements for better manufacturability, Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Develop and manage Process Failure Mode Effective Analysis (PFMEA) and mitigate those risks by developing and implementing an effective control plan
Validate process capability using Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (guage R&R) analysis and Process Capability Index (CpK)
Conduct Time studies to measure throughput and identify improvement opportunities
Implement automated data collection, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and dashboards where necessary to develop and monitor key metrics of performance
Analyze manufacturing metrics and data to drive continuous improvement
Track component and assembly yield to improve supplier and manufacturing quality
Right size manufacturing processes as needed to optimize product flow and workstation utilization
Develop and update process documentation to accurately communicate the process for cross-functional teams
Minimum Qualifications We are seeking:
All around good person and fun to work with
3+ years of experience in manufacturing
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them toward manufacturing process development
Experience in identifying and leading manufacturing continuous improvement
Proven problem solver with a demonstrated experience of data-driven root cause analysis
Statistical software experience
Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a manufacturing environment
Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
Comfortable with frequent changes of direction, dynamic work environment, and a track record of performing under pressure
Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:
5-10 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
Lean Six-Sigma Certified
Understanding of Li-Ion Battery technology and industry a plus
Experience in battery or aviation industry manufacturing a plus
Experience in designing, project managing, and landing manufacturing lines from beginning to end
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems specifically PLEX
Advanced statistical analysis experience and software use
Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools - robotics, vision, controls, data systems, material handling, HMIs, etc.
Proficiency in CAD specifically with CATIA or Solidworks
Management of equipment suppliers to design and deliver equipment to be integrated into the production line
