Airworthiness: Project Engineer

The Airworthiness Project Engineer will be a self-starter supporting the Airworthiness team with project management functions. The selected candidate will be working with a team of fellow engineers, DER’s, supply chain, manufacturing, configuration management, and quality team members, in order to fulfill the role’s primary responsibility: to plan, build, and manage the certification of one or more products.

Those products include eVTOL aircraft certification, electric engine certification, propeller certification, and drone model UAS certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning Airworthiness team activities and dependencies required for product certification
  • Developing & maintaining product certification timelines/schedules and communicating milestones, status and dependencies to stakeholders
  • Certification Risk Management: work with teams to identify, track and mitigate risks to the certification of the product(s)
  • Lead readiness reviews to track progress against certification milestones and resolve blockers
  • Communicate changes in the certification timeline to the stakeholders and affected groups

  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Accredited engineering degree in relevant discipline
  • 5+ years of experience leading projects/product development of aerospace products
  • Familiar with development assurance and the application of one or more of the following standards: ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254
  • Excellent organizational, time management skills, and commitment to objectives and responsibilities
  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Prior experience working directly with the FAA, EASA or other regulatory agencies on type certification programs for aircraft, rotorcraft and/or engines.
  • Prior experience with aircraft regulations (14 CFR Part 21, 23, 27, 33, 35 and/or 36), regulatory guidance and policy, means of compliance approaches, and type certification processes
  • Prior experience with process assurance of both internal and external (supplier) development.
  • Working knowledge of project management tools (MSProject, Jira, others)
  • Google G-suite including Drive, Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Charts; Slack
  • Previous experience using ALM Tools (eg. DOORS, Polarion, JAMA, JIRA)
