Why We Have Healthcare at BETA
by Dr. Travis Robillard PA-CI’m a fifth-generation Vermonter from Williston, and I’ve spent my entire career in community-based healthcare. My passion for medicine started when I was 10 years old, after a personal experience that stuck with me and shaped my career path. I went to the emergency room twice with severe abdominal pain. The doctors didn’t take my concerns seriously, and I was sent home both times without getting the imaging I needed. My appendix ruptured while I was in the ER the second time, and I spent two weeks in the hospital recovering.
That experience taught me the importance of being listened to and having someone advocate for your care, and it became a driving force behind my desire to help others. When I heard that BETA Technologies might be opening a clinic for its team members, I jumped at the opportunity. I’d known about BETA for a while and was excited about the possibility of working at such an innovative company. When I met with Katie for my interview, she told me her vision: “I don’t want our doctor to be an asshole.” She also had really important ideas about how healthcare could be delivered, the care and relationship that people cultivate with their provider, and a lot about donkeys. This diversity resonated deeply with me, and I knew it was where I wanted to be.
One of the most interesting aspects of working at BETA is that my entire patient base works for the same company. It’s a unique situation because I get to know my patients not just as individuals but also as part of this larger team, all working toward the same goal. However, it also comes with its challenges. Everyone at BETA is incredibly smart, motivated, and well-informed. They often come to me with a wealth of knowledge from Google, which can make navigating healthcare a bit more complex at times. But it’s also rewarding to help people who are so driven to optimize their health and well-being.
Since starting at BETA, I’ve been able to treat employees for everything from routine illnesses to more urgent concerns. I’ve received a message with a picture of a tick bite, and by the time the employee got to work, I had their antibiotics ready to go. It’s that kind of care—quick, accessible, and frictionless—that makes a real difference. Team members don’t have to waste time scheduling doctor’s appointments or going through endless hoops to get treatment. They know they can reach out, and I’ll be there to help, whether it’s something small or something big.
A huge part of what I focus on is not just physical health but mental health as well. BETA is a fast-paced company, and we recognize that mental health needs just as much attention as physical well-being. I’m proud that we give our people access to both, ensuring that they’re supported in all aspects of their health.
I’m particularly passionate about hydration. You might not think about it much, but staying hydrated is one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve your well-being, productivity, and even mental clarity. At BETA, people are working hard every day, pushing boundaries, and striving for excellence. But you can’t run on caffeine alone—you need water to keep you performing at your best. That’s where the InBody machine comes in. It’s a tool I use to help people see exactly what’s going on in their bodies. It doesn’t lie. It shows you how hydrated you are, how much muscle you’re building, and how your body composition is changing over time. Using that data, I work with team members to build healthy habits, whether it’s staying hydrated, managing their weight, or getting more exercise.
The holistic approach we take ensures that people are not just working hard, but working smart, with a focus on long-term health. I’m here to make sure that everyone is in the best shape they can be—physically, mentally, and emotionally—so that they can contribute their best work to BETA’s mission. At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to ensure that our team is healthy and able to do their best work. Because when people are healthy, happy, and supported, they thrive—and so does the company.
