Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aviation Human Factors Specialist to join our dynamic team. As an Aviation Human Factors Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our cutting-edge aircraft systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of aviation and shape the initial generation of eCTOL and eVTOL aircraft.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Authoring comprehensive and coherent documentation related to human factors, including certification plans, test plans, data capture delineation, and cataloging. Strong technical writing skills are essential.
  • Conducting thorough data analysis, including error triage and evaluation, as well as pilot workload assessment. The ability to identify potential hazards, risks, and performance limitations is crucial.
  • Applying practical knowledge and operational perspectives to evaluate aircraft pilot participants, considering factors such as cognitive workload, situational awareness, and human performance under various conditions.
  • Demonstrating expertise in running human factors testing, which may involve simulator-based evaluations, flight tests, or controlled experiments to gather essential insights.
  • Engaging in field observation and research activities to identify human factors challenges and opportunities, subsequently providing actionable recommendations to improve aviation safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Possessing a foundational understanding of human psychology and its application to aviation human factors, enabling a comprehensive approach to the design and evaluation of pilot-machine interactions.
  • Highly desirable: An aircraft piloting background, which enhances the ability to comprehend operational complexities, empathize with user perspectives, and contribute hands-on expertise to the human factors design process.

  • Minimum Qualifications we are seeking:

  • Previous experience in human factors aircraft certification, ideally with direct involvement in the certification processes of regulatory bodies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Transport Canada, Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB), or Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC).
  • Demonstrated experience working for an aircraft original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and/or avionics manufacturer as a human factors expert, actively contributing to the design and development of aviation systems.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Factors in Aeronautical Science or a closely related field, showcasing a strong foundation in human factors principles and methodologies applied to aviation.
  • Proficiency in various human factors disciplines, including but not limited to:
  • Human Factors (HF) design, encompasses the application of ergonomic principles, anthropometric considerations, and human-machine interface design to enhance safety and user experience.
  • User Interface (UI) design, with a focus on developing intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for cockpit displays and control systems.
  • User Experience (UX) design, ensuring optimal interaction and engagement between pilots and aircraft systems through effective information presentation and system feedback.
  • Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:

  • Highly desirable: An aircraft piloting background, which enhances the ability to comprehend operational complexities, empathize with user perspectives, and contribute hands-on expertise to the human factors design process.
