The Controls, Modeling, and Simulation Engineer is a core member of the Model Based Design (MBD) team at BETA. The team member would be responsible for the development of control systems and models in the MATLAB/Simulink environment for aircraft systems.
Depending on the candidate’s areas of expertise/interest, the candidate will focus on or more of the following systems:
Electric propulsion unit (motor drive system)
Battery management systems
Development of controllers in Simulink that will be used to generate embedded C code
Modeling of physical system
Implementation on hardware in the loop (HIL) systems
Tool development (task automation, optimization)
A typical candidate would meet the following requirements, but exceptions can certainly be made:
A bachelors of science degree in a STEM field
5+ years working with MBD tools (e.g., Simulink, SCADE, LabVIEW)
5+ years experience in object-oriented programming
Expertise in motor controls, flight controls, or battery management systems
Strong fundamentals in physics
