Beta is seeking an experienced tax director to oversee the organization’s tax strategy and objectives. The tax director will help establish policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable tax statutes on the federal and state level, both domestically and internationally. You will be responsible for the creation of strategies and specific objectives for the sub-functions of the tax department including international tax planning, tax return preparation, tax provision, sales and use tax, etc. As the tax director, you will also develop budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The position requires deep knowledge of the sub-functions as well as the overall department function. Ability to lead at an early-stage, high-growth company, while navigating complex tax issues. This role reports to the CFO as an integral part of the leadership team.  In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of tax filings and reports.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Work closely with leadership on the development and implementation of domestic and international tax strategies that minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial performance
  • Stay up-to-date with tax laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for tax planning
  • Oversee all tax compliance activities, including the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines
  • Coach, delegate, and develop staff for departmental  sub-functions 
  • Leverage technology to connect transaction data to tax software, and automate tax return preparation
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to resolve complex tax issues, interpret tax laws and regulations, and summarize the relevant information for leadership
  • Collaborate with outside tax advisors and tax counsel, as necessary, to ensure effective tax support and guidance
  • Minimum Qualifications we are seeking:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or Business related field preferred
  • CPA certification required
  • 12+ years of related tax experience, including 5+ years of management  
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and numerous deadlines, reviewing complex, and detailed tax work
  • Knowledge of domestic and international tax planning strategies
  • Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:

  • Master’s degree in Taxation Law
  • Deep expertise in domestic and international tax planning, compliance, and strategy, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment
  • Experience with tax automation and leveraging technology to improve tax processes is preferred
  • Experience with high-growth, global manufacturing businesses, including those with significant intellectual property portfolios
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment:
    Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages, and other items, and to walk short distances. The position is not suitable for remote work.
