BETA Technologies is seeking a driven aerospace engineer as a  Systems Stress Engineer for the Structures team.  As an integral member of BETA's growing team, you will be highly motivated to work with dynamic, cross-functional groups to ensure the success of the aircraft through certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to review and generate structural analysis of aircraft system structures
  • Define system loads and requirements for interactions between different systems and structures
  • Complete hand calculations and FEM analysis of structures, perform stress analysis at aircraft interfaces with the systems
  • Support test execution, analyze test results
  • Mentor junior team members and provide support to other internal departments that may require your Stress skills
  • Perform trade studies

  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or related degree from an accredited University.
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience, with a proven track record, developing products through a full product life cycle - concept, prototype, validated design with a vision to scaled production.
  • Highly proficient in metallic and composites structure and its interactions with the different systems, knowledge of industry best practices and methodologies (Bruhn, ESDU & other recognized methodologies, FAR 23 & 25 Requirements, etc)
  •  Demonstrated FEM proficiency using industry-recognized tools
  •  Analysis of Finite Element results (Nastran files), interface forces and studies of junctions (metallic and composite) with surrounding parts
  •  Capable of simplifying a complex problem and providing an initial analysis to scope critical constraints and feature sizing.
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Creation and validation of finite element models at different scale (Global and detailed) an asset
  • Basic knowledge of PDM/PLM systems
