This is a role as a senior simulation software engineer for BETA’s piloted immersive eVTOL engineering and training simulators. The selected candidate will maintain a diverse array of eVTOL aircraft engineering and training simulators, architect and implement simulation analogs to in-vehicle systems and work with flight test pilots and engineers to prioritize feature development.

Architecting and implementing simulation analogs to in-vehicle systems, with capability to integrate the work of model-based design teams and other subject matter experts.
Liaising with flight test pilots and engineers to prioritize feature development.
Instituting software to automatically test simulator software changes, and verify simulator functionality including compatibility with avionics.
Collaborating on, reviewing and merging pull requests made by teammates.
Strategizing and maintaining continuous integration and deployment across BETA’s multiple simulator sites.
Strategizing simulation program development to drive value in areas such as human factors, certification, interoperability with military simulators, subscale models or autonomy.
Identifying and hiring for needed resources, writing job descriptions such as these.
Competence in modern software development processes (i.e. Git, code reviews, testing and continuous integration).
Experience programming in a variety of languages; at a minimum, familiarity with C++ and Python.
Experience in a leadership role as part of an engineering team.
Familiarity with commercial simulation tools (e.g. simulation hosts and image generators, and protocols such as DIS and CIGI).
Experience with distributed mission training networks or in developing or supporting multiplayer games.
Knowledge of airplane flight or control concepts.
A multi-year history of software produced as part of an engineering team.
A demonstrably thorough understanding of computer architecture.
Knowledge of tradeoffs in graphics rendering performance, especially on Windows.
Experience with autonomous systems, human factors, controls systems, machine learning or other field expanding on this role in simulation.
