DevOps Engineer

South Burlington, VT


The DevOps Engineer is responsible for owning continuous integration/continuous deployment workflows; managing cloud-based systems, services, and servers; and working with software developers to ensure the smooth operation of critical software infrastructure. The person in this position will work in a small team environment and support the development of new technologies in the evolving world of eVTOL aircraft design.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborating with developers to make sure new environments meet requirements and conform to best practices.
  • Designing, implementing and testing agreed-upon infrastructures and processes.
  • Automating deployment of applications, system configurations, and security settings for production and test environments.
  • Providing direct service support of software operations to internal and external customers.
  • Supporting developer integrations with 3rd party systems.
  • Managing cloud infrastructure for optimal scalability, maintainability, security, and data redundancy.
  • Learning about and gathering new technologies and related tools to introduce to the company in order to improve the software development and deployment life cycle.
  • Contributing to the integration of complex aerospace systems.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a DevOps Engineer (or similar) role.
  • Extensive experience managing projects on a major cloud platform.  Experience with Google Cloud Platform is especially desirable.
  • Experience scripting in Python, Bash, and other languages.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Python virtual environments.
  • Experience architecting and implementing CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience working with GIT version control (experience with GitHub and GitHub actions especially desirable).
  • Experience creating and deploying Docker containers, and orchestrating containers using Kubernetes.
  • Experience with production logging, monitoring and alerting.
  • Understanding of KPI measurement and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures.
  • Strong experience with databases such as SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, Mongo, Datastore and/or BigQuery.
  • Stellar troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems.
  • Current with industry trends, IT ops and industry best practices, and able to identify the ones we should implement.
  • Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
  • Focused energy, self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented; good team, communication and leadership skills.
