The Instrumentation Technician will build and install test instrumentation to validate the structural characteristics of primary and secondary aircraft structures (metallic and composite) by working closely with the test engineer and design teams to capture the setup requirements and operating conditions. This includes installation, setup, troubleshooting, and teardown of instrumentation and test equipment.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
Hands-on capabilities with experience in electronic, hydraulics, and/or applicable mechanical trades
Ability to read drawings, diagrams, printed materials, and computer screens
Assume responsibility for key aspects of area safety, maintenance, and quality assurance, including setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment and instrumentation.
Ability to safely use and/or operate various hand and power tools
Understanding of instrumentation such as; strain gauges, string potentiometers, and thermocouples
Prepare test specimens and test instrumentation
Assemble, adjust, and calibrate test equipment
Install appropriate measuring and data collection equipment
Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work environment
Minimum Qualifications we are seeking:
Associate degree in a related field, or high school diploma plus the equivalent of four (4) years of relevant work experience
Hands-on capabilities with experience in electronic, and/or applicable mechanical trades
Developed understanding with the ability to follow instructions for routine tests
Basic computer knowledge
Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:
Structural testing experience
Experience with a procedural and process-oriented structure
Mathematics skills up through and including Algebra and Geometry
Experience with various electronic tools: soldering gun, multimeter, CAN bus
Rapid prototyping or aircraft building experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 20 lbs
Ability to safely work at heights and use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment
Ability to safely use and/or operate various power tools
Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards
Ability to see and work with fine electrical components
